Garden Hacks: Natural Snail Repellant

Garden Hacks: Natural Snail Repellant

A super easy hack today and well worth trying. Lots of people have recommended garlic wash to me as a good way to keep snails at bay; particularly after my hostas were savaged this year – we have had HUGE snails and slugs in the garden in the warm, wet summer.

This is the recipe I have come up with. It’s not rocket science but it’s certainly garlicky!

What you need:

  • Two bulbs of garlic
  • 1.5l water
  • Spray bottle (I just used an empty antibacterial spray bottle)
  • Sharp knife and chopping board
  • Saucepan
  • Measuring jug

What to do:

Break up the bulbs and roughly chop the cloves into about 3 chunks each. Pop these into a saucepan with 1.5l cold tap water and bring to the boil.

Once the water has boiled, turn the heat off and leave the garlic wash to cool.

Once cooled, strain into a jug and discard the garlic chunks.

Pour garlic wash into the spray bottle and get spritzing!
