I first wrote about my Briiv Air Filter in this blog and in this new post, I am discussing my feedback a year on. I also want to introduce you to the Briiv Pro – it has some incredible features.

I have used my Briiv regularly in that time and absolutely love it. I really like the slick design. It has terrarium vibes and blends seamlessly with the décor of any home, from a maximalist to minimalist, and everything in between.  The Briiv had even won a coveted Red Dot Award.

The Briiv has become something I use on a daily basis to help purify the air in my home.  Being a DIY-fan, my house probably has more than its fair share of VOCs. From paint stripper to paint itself, as I work on our house like a canvas, I release toxins into the air.

However, it’s not just for the DIYers. In fact, there are VOCs in every home. Even cooking a bacon sarnie in the morning releases them and those strong cleaning chemicals that make you cough?  That’s another example.

I have my Briiv on every day.  It has a variety of settings. So, when I’m just having a normal day at home, I will keep it on low. But if there’s DIY going on, or it’s cleaning day, then I whack it up to the highest setting.  I have found it really beneficial on DIY days in particular.

Having my young son at home, and pets too, I want to be sure the air is safe for us. I am always really aware of the mess and chaos I cause with my DIY escapades (!) so having the Briiv to do (at least some of) the cleaning as I go is a relief. It’s so easy to use that even Leo puts it on in the mornings (he’s only 3!)

I have really noticed the difference since getting our stinky labradoodle! The Briiv helps keep the air free of allergens from Sir Sheds-A-Lot Ziggy.

Introducing the Briiv Pro

I have the original Briiv model, but you can now also choose to invest in the recently launched Briiv Pro.

Do you really need an air filter?

Cooking, cleaning, DIYing and living with pets fills the air in our homes with tiny particles.  Investing in tech to clean that air up is, therefore, simply another way to look after our health.  Houseplants are well-known for their ability to clean the air…. You can think of the Briiv as a houseplant on steroids!

The Briiv is 6,900% (you read that right) more effective at cleaning the air than houseplants alone. I have hay fever and I find it helps with this. Also, my son suffers from asthma, so it’s important to me to make sure the air he is breathing is a safe as possible as I’m always looking for ways to minimise the risk of him having an attack. I should say here, that this is my personal experience and Briiv doesn’t state expressly that the machine will help against asthma attacks, I just take the view here that keeping the air clean can only be a good thing.

Why opt for Briiv?

The Briiv uses moss and coconut filters which are home compostable to trap nasties.  The air filtration system draws in the air, cleans it up and pumps back fresh, clean air into your living environment.  What’s better, the pro version even has a built in diffuser, so you can add a few drops of essential oil too and make your house smell delicious.

Fancy features for the new Briiv Pro

I love my original Briiv. But I am super impressed with the Briiv Pro.

Briiv Pro monitors air purity

The Briiv Pro uses AI to monitor the air purity around the house. It works as needed to keep things just right.  I like the Rapid Purification mode, which cleans up the air in a 4x4m room in just over 20 minutes.  Therefore, it is the perfect solution after you’ve been cooking, cleaning or of course, DIYing!

Briiv Pro keeps the air clean in the winter months

In the colder months, we pump the air full of pollutants that can be detrimental to our health. These include smoke from wood burners, candles or open fires, and the accompanying carbon dioxide too.  The Briiv Pro is effective against smoke and is an even better alternative to opening the window. Great if you live in a city like me: the air outside can’t really be described as fresh! Read more about the tests and studies Briiv has conducted here.

Briiv Pro for DIYers

I couldn’t write this blog without focusing on some of the DIY nasties the Briiv Pro can help protect against.  Did you know that MDF releases formaldehyde?  Stripping paint with a heat gun releases toxic gases into the air Any renovation work, or even redecoration, often sees dust particles and the like released into the air.  This, coupled with the fact that we are actively making our homes as air tight as possible for the sake of energy efficiency, means throughout the day, toxins build up in the air.

I really do believe that an air purification system is necessary then in this day and age for our health.  Much like we have central heating as standard now, looking after the air we breathe should be top priority when thinking about the tech to install at home.

Super low maintenance and cheap to run

The Briiv is easy to look after once you have one.  After your initial investment, the only ongoing cost is to replace the filter every few months (composting the moss and coconut layers). Yorkshire Moss is washable, which means you can reuse.  And don’t worry! The moss is sustainably sourced.

Also, in the worst-case scenario, if you break the glass (or damage another component), you can order a spare without replacing the whole machine.

The Briiv itself is not expensive to run either. It squares up well to its competitors, coming in at cheaper to operate than market leader Dyson.  Overall, it’s a worthwhile investment to keep your home healthy and after your initial investment, it won’t cost much either.

Get yours now

I’m well and truly converted and plan to add more Briiv units around the house this year.  Find our more and get yours here. I wouldn’t be without mine and will be adding more units of my own around the house to keep the air we breathe as pure and healthy as possible.
